The ESMOD Kuala Lumpur Graduation Fashion Show returned with its soon-to-be graduates of showcasing their masterpieces in a stellar runway show. The event which took place on 15th February 2020 at the Atrium, Ground Floor in Avenue K saw to a total of 50 amazing outfits designed and created by the young fashion designers themselves.
The fashion show was made up of students from batch FD1703 who conceptualized their pieces based on the theme, ‘Vicissitude’, which means an alternation between opposite or contrasting things. The team behind this exhilarating collection consists of 10 fashion designers who have put their best foot forward in coming up with stunning designs. They are: Woo Jun Le, Lai Wen Yee, Loh Pei Gin, Kenwin Kong Khee Kwin, Chong Bei Xuan Venus, Chong Li Ting, Wong Yu Er, Shoong Nuo-Wen, Lai Mei Hua & Cassandra Yap Jie Ying.
Upon graduation, these young talents will go out to take the fashion world by storm and this fashion show served as a prelude to their talents and creativity. The success of ESMOD KL graduation fashion shows in previous years has led to our continuation in providing a platform for the students to proudly exhibit their hard work and knowledge earned over the years.
During the fashion show, a few prestigious accolades was awarded to the top students as a token of appreciation and to honour their dedication, creativity and skills. These students showcased their exemplary effort throughout their education journey and had their collections evaluated, judged and critiqued on by a panel of jurors who are esteemed designers from renowned fashion houses in Malaysia. Members of the jury include Paul Marchand, Bon Zainal, Carven Ong, Khoon Hooi and Kit Woo. Also in attendance were prominent designers Melinda Looi and Peter Lum, President and Vice President of the Malaysian Official Designers’ Association (MODA), respectively.
This time, the winner of the ‘Best Pattern Making Award’ is Lai Mei Hua whereas Cassandra Yap Jie Ying won the ‘Best Fashion Design Award’. The winners were presented certificates of excellence by Tatsun Hoi, founder and principal of The One Academy, and Paul Marchand, ESMOD Paris’ Head of Fashion Design.
It is easy to see that the future is indeed bright for these young fashion designers as they have created not only amazing pieces of fashion but also exceptional works of art in their masterpieces. The next step in their journey to success is to undergo an internship under some of the biggest names in the fashion industry to further enhance their skills. This has been practice under the ESMOD program in collaboration with ESMOD International over the years.
Our heartiest gratitude to the great sponsor Private Colors and Avenue K for helping us pull off yet another spectacular ESMOD KL graduation fashion show.
